LMC Board Meeting
Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2008 at Builders’ Training Center
Attending: Jim Beem, James Daley, Jim Delaney, Lyle Farrand, Rick Greeno, Don Greenwell, Gerard Grimaldi, Garry Kemp, Bob Jacobi.
Thanks to Don Greenwell and the Builders’ for hosting in the Hutton room named in part for a past LMC Co-Chair, Skip Hutton.
•M/S/C to approve the Financial Report subject to audit.
•M/S/C to appoint a subcommittee to evaluate the Mid-Level Leadership Program. Jim Delaney and James Daley volunteered to serve; other members will be recruited.
•M/S/C to accept the Issues Committee recommendation to remain neutral at this time on the proposed light rail issue on the November Kansas City, Mo., ballot.
•M/S/C to accept the Issues Committee recommendation to remain neutral on the “Education First” issue on the Missouri November ballot. The LMC continues to support the removal of loss limits on Missouri casinos but opposes the proposal’s ban on new casinos.
•M/S/C to accept the Issues Committee recommendation to remain neutral at this time on the proposed expansion of prevailing wage coverage introduced at the city of Kansas City, Mo.
•M/S/C to accept the Issues Committee recommendation that any changes in unemployment compensation reform should be fair to seasonal employers, and to follow the issue closely.
•M/S/C to accept the Construction Committee recommendation and to appoint a committee to plan for the third Construction Summit with a goal of February 2009 for industry leaders and April or May for rank and file. Building Trades national president Mark Ayres will be invited to be the keynote speaker.
•M/S/C to adjourn at 1 p.m.
