•Construction Summit Report: More than 100 attended, sponsorships exceeded expectations. The planning committee put together a successful program; all speakers were praised.
•M/S/C to recommend that net profits from the Summit be split equally between the LMC and NICE with the final amounts reported to the group.
•M/S/C that the Construction Committee oppose reallocation of city of Kansas City, Mo., contract compliance away from the City Manager’s office.
•The LMC testified in opposition to Kansas SB 401, which would amend the Kansas gaming law thus threatening the Speedway casino project now making progress.
•Proposals to limit the historic tax credit in Missouri and to subject tax credits to the annual appropriations process are a threat to viable economic development tools. The LMC has opposed such moves. The LMC is also supporting and urges support for MOSIRA, a bipartisan effort to make the state attractive for bio and animal science development. St. Louis has been aggressive in pursuing such projects.
Efforts continue to postpone enforcement of the Lead Awareness Training requirement being implemented by the EPA. The Builders’ is offering a class, already full, in March and in April.
•Anita Maltbia, Green Impact Zone director, presented on the Zone’s purposes and activities. Numerous opportunities exist for the Zone and the organized industry to work together on workforce development, such as linking weatherization and neighborhood improvement workers to apprenticeship and apprentice preparation programs, implementation of Crayons to CAD in Zone schools and development of women and minority contractors based in the Zone.

--The Green Zone Conference will be held at Paseo High School March 27. Booths and attendance are welcomed.
--IBEW Green Conference April 8. The LMC Construction Committee that day will be at IBEW Local 124 at 7 a.m. so participants can attend the conference as well.
--LMC Awards Dinner April 15.
--iBuild April 27 at Metropolitan Community Colleges Business & Technology Center. Volunteers, judges, booths and sponsors are needed.
--Mid-America Labor/Management Conference July 5-8 at Lodge of the Four Seasons.

•Crayons to CAD teacher training is underway as are preparations for the iBuild Showcase which takes place the morning of April 27. NICE is also unveiling a new website next week. Sponsors, booths, volunteers and Crayons to CAD contest judges are all needed. Judging begins at 7:30 a.m. and the Showcase runs from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Interim Executive Director Garry Kemp and communications specialist Lori Borden have been notifying schools of Crayons to CAD and iBuild; Alise Martiny and Sang Duong are chairs of the iBuild Committee.
•Missouri has issued revised payroll forms; Colleen White has them available. City of KCMO forms remain acceptable as well.
