•Introductions and thanks to Rosie Biondo and Mark One for hosting.
•With the earnings tax repeal likely on the ballot, funds are being raised for an objective study of
the earnings tax impact. The city may assist with the funding but have no role in the results.
•Members are urged to look at the new city code, which is in review period until June 30, for its
impact on economic development. A presentation on the code will be emailed.
•Legislative successes in Kansas included the failure of SB 401 to revise the gaming code, which
means the Speedway casino project is safe to continue, and passage of a new transportation plan.
•The Missouri session ends Friday. HB 1675, with incentives for the Ford plant, is unlikely to
pass. Other economic development issues are also unlikely to pass.
•Mayor Funkhouser is pushing a bond issue for schools but its prospects are not clear.
•Lyle Farrand is retiring as Teamster Local 541 secretary-treasurer. The committee thanks him
for his outstanding participation and service.
•The iBuild was a success with participation from many committee members. More than 1,000
students participated, split between middle and high schoolers. Coverage in the Star and on
Ch. 41 was also highlighted.
•Mike Bynum is new business manager for Heat & Frost Insulators Local 27.
•New Construction Users Council officers include Dave Lovetere, vice president, and Jim Delaney,
treasurer. Dave Roeseler is president and Sam Alpert secretary.
•The SMACNA Golf Tournament benefitted from good weather, rare this week.
