•The Committee welcomed Alise Martiny, new business manager, Greater Kansas City Building & Construction Trades Council.
•The Kansas City Construction Partners is now incorporated and is on the Black & Veatch headquarters project, working with Spectrum Station’s expansion plans and looking at other projects. •The Unified Government will implement a web-based method for submitting prevailing wage certified payrolls. This will improve the process and enforcement. Training sessions will be offered soon. Contact Jason Banks for more information.
•M/S/C to recommend to the LMC Board that the LMC send a letter to the Kansas City, Mo., City Council asking that action be deferred on a draft ordinance regarding contractor debarment until the Construction Committee completes its prevailing wage review process. The letter should cite prequalification requirements, debarment and enforcement authority as key areas to be addressed.
•The Construction Committee will hold a special meeting on Monday, Aug. 20, 8 a.m. at Mark One Electric Co., Inc. to review and develop language for a prevailing wage ordinance. Appropriate city officials will then be invited to review the results with the committee.
•The Labor-Management Fair Contracting Foundation has worked with the Missouri DOL to discover significant prevailing wage and OSHA violations by Blue Nile Contracting.
•Work continues to assist contractors and crafts with complying on Section 3 requirements on the upcoming KCMO Crime Lab project.
•The Builders’ Association celebrates its 125th Anniversary today.
•The Greater Kansas City Building and Construction Trades Council Golf Tournament benefitting Truman Medical Centers takes place Aug. 16 and has available foursome and sponsorship slots.
