•Introductions and thanks to the Builders’ Association for hosting, especially Don Greenwell, Christine Connors, Richard Bruce and Erica Jenkins.
•This committee was meeting on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, in this building. The committee had a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the attacks and the subsequent responses.
•The Missouri General Assembly veto session is nearing a close. The only vetoed bill the committee had a position on, relating to data center incentives, was not brought up for an override.
•NICE is moving forward with an expanded board, iBuild being planned for April 14, 2015 and expanded high school programs. Construction industry speakers are needed for opportunities with students, for example, PREP-KC Career Jumping Days at Grandview (Sept. 16), Harmon (Oct. 3) and Center (Nov. 6) high schools. Contact NICE to volunteer.
•BOMA is sponsoring a codes conference Oct. 16 bringing area building and fire codes administrators together with industry to discuss enforcement of codes.
•Application deadline is Sept. 15 for the LMC’s Mid-Level Leadership Program at Rockhurst University, and sponsorships are available for the LMC’s Public Officials Reception Oct. 9 at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
•The next committee meeting will return to the regular time and location: 8 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 9 at Mark One Electric Co., Inc.

Investment Summit
•The purpose is to inform trustees, advisors and other decision-makers of local Taft-Hartley and other funds of investment opportunities that provide outstanding returns and of potential investment sources for Kansas City-region projects. Alise Martiny and Don Greenwell noted the opportunities for creating area jobs while making profitable investments.
•Presentation by Griffin Goetz, Director of Institutional Sales, Ullico. He highlighted three Ullico vehicles: J for Jobs, Working America Fund and Ullico Infrastructure Fund. Each has made and/or is researching investment opportunities in Kansas City regional projects and has some area funds as investors.
•Presentation by John Stewart, President of Capital Mortgage Management, Inc.; Patton Roark, Richmond Capital Management, and Angelo Lancia, Lancia Consulting Group, LLC. They explained the ProLoan Fund, its return history and the many area projects it is investing in or researching.
•Presenter business cards and additional information are available from the LMC.
•A future presentation by AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust will be made at a Construction Industry Committee meeting.
