LMC Board of Directors Summary of Minutes
Oct. 16, 2014, 8:30 a.m. • Kansas City Power & Light Co.
Attending: Sam Alpert, Bret Bonge, KC Borden, Brian Dietz, Scott Hoisington, Alise Martiny, Bob Jacobi.
•Thanks to Bret Bonge and KCPL for hosting.
•M/S/C to approve the financial report. The Public Official Reception net is above budget and membership is growing.
•The LMC will take no position on Nov. 4 ballot issues. Scott Hoisington will draft an update of the Issues agenda to set principles that will guide specific positions once the legislative sessions are underway, and the Board will vote on the issues agenda in January.
•Suggestions for the Mid-America Labor/Management Conference include a focus on ways to provide good but economically competitive benefits, and how solutions were implemented.
•The Craig Whitaker Golf Tournament was successful, with 64 golfers and a net slightly above budget. The tournament will return to Oakwood in 2015.
•The Public Officials Reception drew about 175 including more than 50 elected officials. The venue was ideal. For future receptions, the Board will be asked to help ensure that everyone attending is engaged in conversation.
•The target date and location for the Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner for 2015 is April 16, Argosy Casino.
•Discussion began for determining a slate for officers and board; a vote will be taken at the January meeting. The Carpenters District Council will be invited to a board position and elected in January or April, depending upon the representative’s availability.
•M/S/C to purchase a digital camera for events.
•The next board meeting will be Jan. 15, 2015, location TBA.
•M/S/C to adjourn at 9:45 a.m.
