LMC Board of Directors Summary of Minutes
Jan. 15, 2015, 8:30 a.m. • Rockhurst University
Attending: Sam Alpert, Jack Bainbridge, Bret Bonge, KC Borden, James Daley, Brian Dietz, Scott Hoisington, Michael Kitchen, Bob Jacobi.
•Thanks to Rockhurst University for hosting.
•M/S/C to approve the receipt of the financial report.
•M/S/C to adopt the 2015 Legislative Agenda (attached).
•The Board discussed a possible KCMO ordinance to mandate energy efficiency standards. The City Energy Project Advisory Committee meets Jan. 30, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Kauffman Foundation, to discuss. The meeting is open to the public. Note correction: The proposed KCMO draft ordinance initially would only mandate current energy consumption benchmarking, labeling (denoting winners and losers), reporting and publicizing results for public consumption. Our fear is that it will lead to more onerous mandates for higher performance standards.
•The Board reviewed the participation list and projections for the 2015 Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner April 16 at Argosy Casino. Board members are encouraged to promote participation.
•The 2015 Craig Whitaker Memorial Golf Tournament is set for July 20 at Oakwood Country Club.
•The Public Officials Reception will next be held (pending confirmation) Oct. 15 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Oct. 22 is the next choice.
•The Board discussed ideas for promoting consistency in regulation and enforcement among KCMO economic development agencies, and the importance of consistency on codes and similar standards across the metro area.
•M/S/C to elect Joe Hudson, Carpenters District Council, to the Board, filing the vacant spot expiring this year.
•M/S/C to renominate officers and board members eligible for reelection to be voted on at the April 16 annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner at Argosy Casino. The list includes: Secretary, Alise Martiny; Treasurer, Don Greenwell; Board members Jack Bainbridge, Bret Bonge, Lindsey Walker, Michael Kitchen, Dave Lovetere and Joe Hudson.
•Jack Bainbridge announced that Jay Hodges, recently with Mayor Sly James’ office, will become the new director of LECET (Laborers-Employers Cooperation Education Trust).
•The next Board meeting will be April 30, 2015, 8:30 a.m., location TBA.
•M/S/C to adjourn at 10 a.m.
