The LMC celebrates the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Labor-management relationships have played a critical role in the movement towards racial equality, and Dr. King strongly supported collective bargaining. In Kansas City, business and labor leaders joined to pass the city's public accommodations referendum in 1964 and continued to collaborate on programs for racial equality and to provide opportunity to all. Such collaborations have grown to include gender and religious equality of opportunity.
