The largest contingent of golfers and volunteers in several years waited out Monday morning’s storms to enjoy a full round at the IBEW Local 124 Cigna Craig Whitaker Memorial LMC Golf Tournament July 20.
The Oakwood Country Club course maintained its quality for the 80 golfers at the 18th annual Labor-Management Council of Greater Kansas City event. Designed to foster relationship-building between and among labor and management, the tournament is named for its founder, longtime LMC board member Craig Whitaker. The LMC’s mission is to foster collaboration and trust between labor and management.
A special item this year was the recognition of outgoing LMC Co-Chair Scott Hoisington, Turner Construction Co., who is taking an international assignment. He has been co-chair for one and one-half years, was vice co-chair for two years and also served as a board member. He is succeeded by Sam Alpert, Construction Users Council.
Boilermakers Local 83 took first place with its foursome of Joe Leandowski, Casey Jensen, Tom Dye and Matt Johnson. Second place was won by the United Labor Credit Union foursome of TIm Vogler, Ryan Dold, Jeff O’Neill and Scott Forbes; and third was earned by Board of Public Utilities with Don Gray, Mike McCleery, Jim Mason and Bob Adam. The Longest Drive contest was won by Matt Johnson and Nearest-to-the-Pin by Casey Jensen.
