•Discussion with KCMO Councilwoman Alissia Canady. Councilwoman Canady provided an update and perspective on the KCI modernization, the city’s recent changes to MBE/WBE policy, economic development incentive policies, workforce development, affordable housing and city leadership. She asked for specific facts and examples to help guide her decision-making process and said that the next mayor must understand issues and be willing to make significant changes on these issues. Councilwoman Canady expressed concern about the KCI modernization process and plans to approve a contract next week. She said that those contractors affected by the changes in the MBE/WBE ordinance should have a different program to help them continue to thrive and grow. She expressed interest in stronger relationship between apprenticeship programs and the Kansas City Public Schools and offered involvement in that process.
•The 2nd and Wyandotte project is about to resume. Most contractors have been paid, but there are concerns about the contractors who will complete the project.
