Construction Industry Steering Team Summary of Minutes

•Thanks to Rosana Privitera Biondo and Mark One Electric Co., Inc. for hosting.
•Last month’s discussion with Jon Stephens, PortKC, was constructive and helpful.
•Updates on the implementation of changes in Missouri’s prevailing wage law. The MODOLIR website now has, by county, wages computed under the new system. The MODOLIR budget proposal has passed the House Budget Committee with funding for additional enforcement personnel.
•The US DOL plans to survey metro counties in Missouri for updated Davis-Bacon rates. There was discussion of how to access information on current and planned HUD projects in the area.
•Bills of interest in Missouri include SB 168, which would limit school districts’ ability to specify the use of materials in issuing construction bids; a bill from Sen. Cierpiot regarding CAFO rules; a mechanical contractor licensing bill, HB 376, opposed by the Plumbers; workforce development and transportation project bonding proposed by the Governor are stuck or dead in the legislature.
•iBuild is April 18; reception and move-in is April 17 at Bartle Hall. Volunteers are needed and booths are available. An increase in high school participants is expected.
•Bob Langenkamp, director of KCMO EDC, is tentatively scheduled to speak at the April meeting.
