The LMC held successful golf tournament July 26, benefitting from the nicest weather day of the week!

The 24th Annual Craig Whitaker Memorial St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council LMC Golf Tournament at Oakwood Country Club (nicely renovated on the course and buildings) drew 56 players. Photos are in the album 2021 Golf Tournament found at the left.

The LMC congratulates Bo Moreno for being selected as the new business manager of IBEW Local 124, and John Fennesy for his appointment to the International staff. Bo is a graduate of the LMC's Mid-Level Leadership Program.

The 35th Mid-America Labor/Management Conference ended yesterday with strong sessions on utility developments and utility labor-management issues, medical marijuana and more. Look for a conference rundown and photos here soon. Thanks to the participants, sponsors, speakers and planning committee members who made it possible.

The Mid-America Labor/Management Conference got off to a great start Sunday with a reception in unusually cool, comfortable weather. Then the conference's substance began with a keynote by FMCS leader Scot Beckenbaugh, a powerful presentation on safety by David Miguel and timely, informative presentations from the Missouri Department of Labor and OSHA followed by a golf tournament. Today the conference focuses on finances and then a variety of workshops and general sessions on diversity and the KCI construction workforce program. More details later!

The LMC congratulates new leaders of member organizations: Frank Carpenter is the new business manager of Painters District Council 3, and Kevin Hendrickson is the new business manager of Pipefitters Local 533. We look forward to working with both.

We also thank VERY much the support and leadership of their predecessors, Scott Grandon at Local 533 and Todd Doree at DC 3. We congratulate them on their retirements and hope to continue to see them.

The LMC mourns the death of former Missouri Speaker of the House Bob Griffin. Bob, who represented the Cameron area, supported labor-management efforts and provided productive leadership for the state for many years during the 1980s and '90s. He and his family are in our prayers.

The Mid-America Labor/Management Conference begins Sunday, July 11. Attendance is projected at about one-third higher than 2019 (the conference was cancelled in 2020) with a strong agenda in place. Last-minute conference registrations will be accepted (https://cvent.me/MQdARk) though hotels are largely full in the area. The conference will be at Camden on the Lake.

The LMC wishes all a great and safe 4th of July weekend!
