LMC Board of Directors Meeting
Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 • 9:30 a.m. • Fire Fighters Local 42
Attending: Teri Casey, Greg Davey, Tom Gebken, Gabe Jones, Jimmy Walker, Bob Jacobi
•Thanks to Local 42, Tim/Dan and Pam Solomon for hosting.
•M/S/C to recommend that the Board accept the Financial Report subject to audit.
•New members include Kansas City Federation of Teachers Local 691 and Enerfab.
•Two LMC public issues items, Missouri Medicaid expansion and increased gas tax for transportation funding, went into effect this month. The federal infrastructure bill is still in limbo after passing the Senate with a new goal of passing the bill by Oct. 31. The board will consider the 2022 agenda in January, so any issues to add/delete/amend will be considered then.
•The Craig Whitaker Memorial St. Louis-Kansas City Carpenters Regional Council LMC Golf Tournament, 41st Anniversary Celebration and 21st Awards Dinner and Sporting Clay Shoot all were successful events with a few COVID-related changes. The Public Officials Reception will be Oct. 14; a list of 75 Yes RSVPs was distributed and more added at the meeting. Vaccination cards, printed or electronic, will be checked at the door.
Dates in April 2022 will be explored with Argosy Casino for the next Anniversary Celebration.
•The Mid-Level Leadership Program began Sept. 22 at Rockhurst with 13 participants. An advanced program remains in development. Greg Davey and Jason Mendenhall spoke to the first session.
•The Board discussed a Spring networking/fundraising event, most likely for 2023 but perhaps in ’22. A variety of ideas were mentioned with an emphasis on an event that would be spouse/family inclusive. Members will be surveyed on different options for event type, day of week and time of day.
•M/S/C to elect Tom Gebkin to replace Jeff Hayes, who resigned from the board due to a job change. The board also congratulated Jeff for his move to CWA International and to Tom for succeed him as Local 6360 president.
•The Labor Vice Co-Chair position is open as are other board positions. The Board will consider filling the positions in January.
•The next Board meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, 9:30 a.m., location TBA. Local 663 and the Builders’ offered space for future meetings as well as Local 42.
•M/S/C to adjourn at 10:45 a.m.
