The LMC sadly reports the death of former U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore.

Dennis served for 12 years representing Johnson and Wyandotte counties in Congress. He was a great friend to the LMC, not only supporting LMC issues and attending our events but also modeling the LMC's mission of building trust and working effectively with those of differing perspectives.

Dennis was a good friend as well, his humor, passion and strong ethics permeating everything he did. And he could play the guitar pretty well too. I had the pleasure of knowing Dennis from his days as Johnson County prosecutor, and Mary first met him when their children went to the same day care. Stephanie Moore, Dennis' wife, has also been a friend to the LMC when serving as regional representative for HHS and in other roles. Our condolences to her and Dennis' family.

The LMC thanks and sends best wishes to Marc Hill, who announced that he is leaving his position as Civic Council of Greater Kansas City executive director to take his daughter on a trip and pursue consulting opportunities. Marc has worked well with the LMC on issues and programs and we appreciate his participation.

The LMC hopes you had a great Halloween. Just a reminder to vote tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 2 in Kansas and some jurisdictions in Missouri. Local offices, school boards and issue votes are vital to our community's success.
