LMC Board of Directors Meeting

•Thanks to Greg Davey, Don Greenwell and the Builders’ Association for hosting the meeting.
•M/S/C to approve the Financial Report subject to audit. Repayment of the EIDL loan with the Small Business Administration has begun through the pay.gov site, but work continues on accessing the full account information. Additional help in resolving the access issue will be sought.
•M/S/C to add “The LMC supports broadband expansion in Missouri and Kansas” to the 2023 Issues Agenda.
•Discussion of proposals for a downtown baseball stadium, impact of state preemption of local government initiatives; potential exclusion from Missouri state contracts of organizations that have Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs and the prospects of funding for I-70 expansion.
•Thirteen graduated the Mid-Level Leadership Program last month: Dominique Blue, City of Kansas City; Kevin Herman, Kansas City Water Department; Christian Howell, RS Electric; TaShana Kearse, Evergy; James Kelley, Kansas City, Mo. Fire Department; Elizabeth Kohlstaedt, Enerfab; Carter Morrison, Evergy; Matt Newton, Kansas City, Mo. Fire Department; Chuck Roseburrough, Pipefitters Local 533; Joshua Schmidt, Heavy Construction Laborers Local 663; Cesar Torres, Bricklayers Local 15; Charles Tuttle Evergy; Tommie Wright, Kansas City Water Department.
•The 44th Anniversary Celebration and 23rd Awards Dinner will be April 13, 2023 at Argosy Casino with US Department of Labor representatives discussing their labor-management cooperation project. They will also gather examples of cooperative efforts for the DOL website. Reservations for the event are at about two-thirds of the goals. The Mid-America Labor/Management Conference July 9-12 will feature two past LMC Co-Chairs who are now international union presidents—Jim Hadel (Roofers) and Kevin Sexton (OPCMIA) as well as KC and St. Louis Chamber presidents among other programs. The 26th Craig Whitaker Golf Tournament will be July 25 at Eagles Landing Golf Club; and the 4th Sporting Clay Shoot Sept. 21 at Saddle & Sirloin. The Public Officials Reception will be Oct. 13 in expanded space at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts allowing for more attendance and sponsorship opportunities. A survey of members yielded input on LMC events including a desire to attract younger participants and families while using sponsorship to cover costs as much as possible.
•The National Institute for Construction Excellence iBuild Showcase will be held April 28 at Bartle Hall, with a reception the evening of April 27.
•The LMC is co-sponsoring a forum for Kansas City, Mo., council candidates April 20, 6-8 p.m. at the Plaza Library. Other sponsors include organizations from the development community.
•M/S/C to nominate Greg Davey for the Treasurer position at the LMC annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration April 13.
•M/S/C to nominate Ralph Oropeza for theSecretary position at the LMC annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration April 13.
•M/S/C to nominate Mike Kane for re-election to an Executive Committee position at the LMC annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration April 13.
•M/S/C to nominate Clarence Brown for reelection to a Board position at the LMC annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration April 13.
•M/S/C to nominate Mike Keeran for reelection to a Board position at the LMC annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration April 13.
•M/S/C to nominate Ed Downey for a Board position at the LMC annual meeting during the Anniversary Celebration April 13.
•The next Board meeting will be Thursday, July 20, 2023, 9:30 a.m., tentatively at the Builders’ Association.
•M/S/C to adjourn at 10:40 a.m.
